I just purchased an HP h8xt-1240 Windows 7 with a 3rd generation i7-3770 quad processor. When I looked at the configuration in the properties of the computer, it just says 3rd generation i7-3770. How can I tell if I have the quad processor? Thank you.

Here are the specs for the Intel® Core™ i7-3770 Processor. To verify that your system is quad core enabled, go to the Windows Device Manager and under "Processors" you should see 8 lines of "Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.4GHz" or something similar. This indicates that your CPU has 4 cores and can run 8 threads.

If you go into your Device Manager (Start, Control Panel, Device Manager), look down the list until you see Processors. Click to expand the tree and you should see an entry for each of the cores on the processor. If you have a quad core processor, you should see four similar, but separate entries.

Daniel, I did this and saw 8 lines rather than 4, so I figured that it was a quad of some sort. Then I got the next post which went one step further. Thanks to you both.

Frank, I had looked up as Daniel suggested and saw 8 lines rather than 4, so I figured I was OK. And your post cleared it up even further. Thanks to you both.
