Based on the technical description of my device, I have an M.2 SSD expansion slot.
My question: Is the rectangle behind my PC the expansion slot, and if yes, how do I properly make use of this expansion slot?
Sorry if my question doesn't belong here.

I don't know what that is. It isn't an M.2 access panel.
I will have to look at the specifications
I can tell you that is there is an m.2 slot available, it will be on the PC's motherboard and not accessible from outside.
Disassembly will be required to access an M.2 slot.
There isn't a second M.2 slot for an SSD. The second one is for WLAN and it is a 2230 format.
There is only one for an SSD.
It is already in use by your PC's 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD.
See the expansion slot section on the motherboard specifications document at the hyperlink below.
