Hello I'm trying to get a second HDD on my desktop and doesn't matter what I do I only have 2 satta ports that will view my hardware and I have 6 of them, I don't think they are bad but I can't get it to work.
Some help with this will be appreciated.

@gavilondo06,

What do you mean by " I only have 2 satta ports that will view my hardware".

You do realize that you need to prep (initialize) the HDD to be accepted by the system?

This process is for a HDD that is 2TB or less, using MBR.   Over 2T requires GPT.

Your unit is circa 2010, and uses MBR.

The process to add a secondary hard drive to your HP is:

1) Install HDD into drive tray. Connect both Sata data and Sata power leads.

2) Prepping the new hard drive

Press START button

Open Control Panel (you must be in Classic View).

Open Administrative Tools

Click to open Computer Management. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

In the left pane, under Storage, click Disk Management.

Your boot drive will show up a Disk0. Stay away from that.

The added drive should show up as Disk1.

Right-click an unallocated region on your 'new" hard disk, and then click New Simple Volume.

In the New Simple Volume Wizard, click Next.

Type the size of the volume you want to create in megabytes (MB) or accept the maximum default size, and then click Next.

Accept the default drive letter or choose a different drive letter to identify the partition, and then click Next.

In the Format Partition dialog box, do one of the following:

If you don't want to format the volume right now, click Do not format this volume, and then click Next.

To format the volume with the default settings, click Next.

Review your choices, and then click Finish.

This system is feedback driven thru Solution and Kudo flags. It's the only means of knowing if you have been served. Please click Accept as Solution, if your problem is solved. To say THANK YOU, press the "thumbs up symbol" to render a KUDO. You can render both Solution and KUDO..
