How to get NVME SSD to work on HP Pavilion Desktop PC 570-a1xx
11-16-2020 10:43 AM

Anyone managed to get a NVME M2 SSD to work with a HP Pavilion Desktop PC 570-a1xx? I have tried 2 Crucial SSDs - neither are detected by the PC. On the latest BIOS - no settings to change - and nothing happens with the SSD. Anyone got it to work - any help appreciated.

Hi:
I just got a reply from another forum member that has a PC with the same motherboard.
He cannot get a NVMe drive to work but his PC came with a M.2 drive from HP.
It was SATA.
Now I am very confident that your PC's motherboard M.2 slot only supports SATA M.2 drives.

Hi:
Yes, I see the crucial report for your PC and it shows that both SATA and NVMe SSD's are supported according to the report.

I cannot find any other PC in that model series that came with a M.2 SSD from HP so I could cross reference a part number, nor can I find any other discussions in this forum regarding the Maple motherboard and M.2 slot compatibility.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to help you with this problem and opine that the slot only supports SATA M.2 SSD's and the Crucial report is incorrect.
It should have been plug and play.
The is one long shot to check. Another forum member with a totally different model PC and motherboard, indicated that the M.2 SSD slot security was disabled in the BIOS. In other words, the slot was turned off.
So, check the BIOS' security menu and see if there is any M.2 slot security settings and if there are, make sure the slot security setting is enabled.
