Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

total mothertboard failure  24-b277na!!

Will I need software to reflash the bios of a new motherboard?

If you do a motherboard replacement you will be transferring your CPU, Memory and Disk (m.2) to the new (used?) motherboard

After installing win10 or 11 you will need to activate windows.  Just tell the Microsoft rep you had to buy a used replacement as none were available from the manufacturer. If you have a problem with the rep then call at a later time so as to get a different rep.  It may be best to start with a chat session on a PC and then use a smart phone to activate when given the # to call.

You might also consider buying a used 24 AIO and sell your CPU, Ram, Display Screen, etc  You might actually break even; especially if you are forced to pay to activate windows.

Are you sure you need a new motherboard?

What troubleshooting have you done?

Did you have to flash bios of new mb?

HP Recommended

No, just reset the CMOS (if necessary) by removing battery'

do that on the used motherboard before installing

If you buy a new, unused or "open box"  motherboard check to see if the bios needs to be initialized or personalized

some HP replacement are missing the bios programming that identifies what chips or features on  on the motherboard.

The tools to write the serial info into the bios are available but only the manufacturer knows what codes are to be written.

codes include product ID and serial number and other information that would be extremely difficult to know or guess at

I do not know if your system is one of those type of motherboards

Get assurance the board has no password set

Get a used motherboard that was a working pull

Help appreciated.

get a used motherboard that was working when removed

ie: someone broke the screen and decided to sell the parts

That way you know it was working and was probably running windows
