HI PEOPLES. I've been searching for an answer and haven't gotten an answer yet. I own 2 hp elite desk 800 g2 slim towers. Even though on another post on here somebody said you can't transfer the Motherboard to a new case I'd like to state i have done just that. I call it Frankenstein. I used a really old hp tower from my windows 98 days and grabbed a heavy duty power supply strictly to run my video card. My question is without the "it can't be done" "you can't hack it" comments that are irrelevant (im sort of bothered how the guy or girl was treated on that post.) does anyone know how to tell if the Motherboard holes will line up with the case hole positions before I order a new case as well as making sure the pci slots line up. Am I subjected to only hp cases or is there a specific type of case I should be looking for? Thank you in advance.

Welcome to our HP community forum!
Far be it from me to say that "it can't be done" in this community/forum -as those who know about my HP desktop upgrade projects can attest to.
The challenge is that HP motherboard mounting holes do not necessarily line up with established industry ATX/Micro-ATX/Mini-ATX/E-ATX/Nano-ATX motherboard formats. So, as I understand it, you want to install an HP EliteDesk 800 G2 Tower motherboard in a new ('gaming') case? Well, this is what we are dealing with:
As you can see, an HP EliteDesk 800 G2 Tower motherboard does not follow any industry standard.
I've never done this -at least not with HP motherboards, so I would say it wouldn't hurt to try it out. After all, a decent computer case (one which I bought) are really inexpensive (starting under $50), like this one: DIYPC DIY-S03 Black Steel/ Tempered Glass ATX Mid Tower Gaming Computer Case | eBay.
