@Penn1688, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP SimpleSave MD1000H is not functioning correctly after updating your laptop, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check Physical Connections:

  • Ensure that the USB cable is securely connected between your HP SimpleSave and your laptop. If the connection seems faulty, try using a different USB cable.

Device Recognition:

  • Check if the drive is being recognized by your computer. You may need to check the Device Manager on your laptop. If it’s not recognized, try reconnecting the cable or using a different USB port.

Driver Updates:

  • Confirm that your laptop’s drivers are up-to-date. Sometimes updates can affect external peripherals, so visit your laptop manufacturer's website for the latest drivers.

HP SimpleSave Software:

  • Make sure the HP SimpleSave software is running properly. You may need to reinstall the HP SimpleSave software from the HP support website to ensure it's compatible with your updated laptop system.

Run HP SimpleSave Program:

  • Launch the HP SimpleSave program manually and check if it detects the drive. Sometimes after updates, programs might need to be re-initiated manually.

Safely Eject Methods:

  • If previously you did not safely eject the drive before disconnecting, re-connect the drive and safely eject it using your laptop system tray.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Huh... I have one of these at home and haven't used it in a while.
All my units are Windows 10 so I'll try it tonight and let you know. 🙂
