How tool back bios from 3.08 to older version 2.90 or etc

According to documentation, it is not possible to roll back the bios

Reverting to 2.99, assuming it is possible,  will cause some CPUs (Sandy Bridge & Ivy Bridge) to quit working.

Is there some concern or problem with 3.08?
