I bought my Omen 40l with 3080 graphics card in the spring 2022. I suspect there is now an issue with it. A few months ago it started to crash from to time when starting a game. But now it is every time, 5 to 10 minutes in to the game it crashes.
What happens is that all of a sudden the screen goes black and the fans start to run on maximum speed, then the screen indicates that it is not getting any image from the computer anymore. The computer is still running but not displaying any image on the screen.
I have run diagnostics on the memory, processor, graphic card and cooling system without any findings.
I have reset the computer to factory settings but the issue remains

Many games have patches for problems like what you mentioned. Gaming community can recommend setting that minimize problems.
One thing you could try is to keep the CPU from running in turbo mode all the time.
99% prevents the largest multiplier from being used. On Intel CPUs it can make a huge difference in temperature
I assume you have checked with NVidia to get the latest 3080 game drivers.

It is consistent on all games so I don't think it a patch for the game and I have downloaded the latest patches for them.
The CPU thing is interesting, but I cannot find where to change that setting?
I read in another thread about a person with a similar problem then it seemed to be that he needed to actually go back to previous game driver from Nvidia and not the newer ones. By the way I am unable to download the absolute latest game driver from Nvidia so mine is from last spring

enter "edit power plan" into the windows search box

Yea, that is what the game community is good for. NVidia and AMD come out with "game ready drivers" about once a week.

I cannot find that setting, maybe because mine is a desktop? When I enter that edit power plan I can only chose in between three different predefined settings and min is already set to "balanced" so not on "performance" for example, makes sense?

Sorry, I should have mentioned it was the advanced option
