I lost my USB receiver for my wireless HP keyboard and mouse that came with my desktop. Is there any way to get a replacement receiver or is there another option? I love this keyboard and mouse and don't want to get rid of it.

@brs9,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Losing the USB receiver for your wireless HP keyboard and mouse is frustrating, but there may be options to get them working again. Here’s what you can do.

Check If Your Devices Support Bluetooth

  • Some HP wireless keyboards and mice support Bluetooth in addition to the USB receiver. If so, you can pair them with your computer without needing a new receiver.
  • Look for a Bluetooth symbol on your keyboard or check your HP desktop’s settings.

Determine If Your Receiver Is a Standard USB or a Proprietary Dongle

  • HP wireless keyboard and mouse combos often use proprietary USB receivers that are not interchangeable with generic receivers.
  • Check if your devices support HP Link-5 Technology, which allows multiple HP peripherals to connect to a single USB receiver. If so, you can buy a replacement HP Link-5 receiver.

Order a Replacement USB Receiver

  • If your keyboard and mouse use HP Link-5, you can get a Link-5 USB receiver from HP’s official website or third-party sellers.
  • If it's not Link-5, you will likely need an exact replacement for the specific model. Try searching HP’s website using your keyboard/mouse model number or contact HP support to see if they sell standalone receivers.

Consider a Universal Receiver

  • Some third-party universal receivers work with HP devices, but compatibility is not guaranteed.
  • If HP does not offer a replacement, you might need to replace the keyboard/mouse set.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
