I have a hp pavillion 590, and it came with an i5-9400f, 8gb of ram, gt1030,118gb of ssd storage. And a 180 psu, however i want to upgrade the psu to a 300w.

While you did not state the exact model number of your HP 590, those models came with the Sunflower and Lincs motherboards. Both use a proprietary PSU. Your answer can be found in this link.
