I wanted to upgrade my cousin's pavilion 590-p0044 however the psu I bought(not an hp psu), wasn't compatible. Since the system itself only consume a maximum of 180watts, I would need a psu that has 400watts(80+platinum) in order to pair it with the 1660 I wanted to install.
The problem is I don't know what psu is compatible, however I have seen that the L04618-800 is compatible from another post. I'm just unsure since I don't want to go through the process of returning the psu due to it being incompatable.

Welcome to our HP community forum!
I have glad tidings for you: your cousin's HP Pavilion 590-p0044 Desktop PC (3LA79AA) as fitted with a Sunflower motherboard (SSID: 8433), and a 180-watt power supply with p/n: L08660-800 "Power Supply - GNRC PSU 180W Entl18 SFF FR Gold", as per this link, is indeed compatible with the 400-watt PSU with p/n: L04618-800. Moreover, this desktop is also compatible with the 500-watt PSU with p/n: L05757-800:
Hope this was helpful.
Kind Regards,
