I would like to update the computer ive had for 2 years now,  and I keep buying the wrong PSU's. any help much appreciated please.

Please explain what you mean by "wrong kind of PSUs." Also, DO NOT waste your money on upgrading a 1050 to a 960. The performance gain is almost none. Please upgrade to a GTX 1050 Ti instead.

The specifications on your HP 750-539cb are shown here.   Intel i7-7700 with 16gb RAM.  Nice unit.

It has an ATX 300W PSU with the standard 24pin Main power, and 4 pin AUX power. The provided GPU card is the GTX 1050.  What PSU did you last purchase, and what was that issue?

If your a gamer, mention the most intensive game, and a GPU and PSU will be paired for you.

BTW, a GTX 1050Ti is little enhancement,  and cautionary note: some GTX 1050Ti require a 6 pin PCIe power plug, and your 300W does not have the plug.

PS<> @ctrl_alt_del  was right about the GTX 1050 comparison to the GTX 960, but he left out an important item. The GTX 960 would have required a minimum 400W PSU to have a 6 pin PCIe power plug supplied.
