Increase the capacity of onboard SSD.

Can the capacity of the M.2 socket 3 SSD be increased to 128GB, 240GB, or larger, and used as the main BOOT DRIVE for W10? Factory capacity is 16GB.. Thanks for your time and effort.

According to the specs HP indicates it comes with a 16 GB NVMe SSD as well as a 1 TB hard drive.

I'm thinking the 16 GB SSD is not really a SSD per se, but an Intel Optane memory device that accelerates the hard drive.

You would hardly be able to install W10 on a 16 GB drive and if you could, it would be filled up in no time flat.

Check your BIOS to see if there is a setting to enable/disable the Intel Optane memory.

If there is no BIOS setting to disable the Intel Optane memory, then all you would need to do would be to disable the Intel Optane memory in the Intel RST software, remove the module and you can install a 'regular' M.2 NVMe SSD in the storage capacity of your choosing, install W10 on the SSD and use that as the boot drive instead of the 1 TB hard drive.

I agree that W10 would not fit on 16GB- that is why I was asking about increasing the size and then use it as a boot device. I understand your suggestions and will look into it when I am ready to get into BIOS. Thank you very much. PEACE and prayers for all.
