I do hve a question about Intel Optane M.2 16 GB PCIe 3.0 x2 for my desktop, Omen #870-119. What does this part do on my desktop? To improve more fast on memory or boost up the memory or what?  I am not really sure what is about with Intel Optane M.2 16 GB? Anyone know more about this than me? Hopefully will see the messages about this.

Greetings John,

Welcome back to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

Optane works with the HDD to improve system responsiveness. Nothing to do with RAM.

Let's say your HDD is the factory. Optane is the retail outlet. Optane persistently stores frequently used factory products at the retail store for quicker access and retrieval. RAM is volatile storage. Optane is non-volatile storage. Optane is much faster than a HDD but RAM is quicker than Optane.
