Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I have a doubt. I have an HP Compaq 6300 SFF computer, and I want to add a new solid hard drive to it, but in the characteristics page of my computer, it tells me that the maximum size of SSD is 128gb. What would happen if I add a solid hard drive that exceeds this capacity? For example, 480GB. Thank you!

@gerardoatg , welcome to the forum.

You should be able to add the 480 GB SSD or larger without any problems.  The 128 GB is simply the largest that HP offers when you buy the computer.  Just make certain that you buy the correct version.

Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the computer: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04034127

On Page 31 is a list of compatible SSD's.  As you will see, a 256 GB SSD is listed.

the HP 6300 pro SFF (and minitower) is a fully UEFI compliant bios and is fully win 7 and win 8.x/10 compatible

using win 8.x/10 and a GPT formatted drive you have no practical limit on the size of the the Hard drive (SSD or Mech drive)

if using the onboard HD ports then you will need a SATA drive

if using a nvme drive then a PCI-e  x4 to M.2 or U2 (SFF-8639) card

google M.2 or U2 (SFF-8639) for more info on these storage interfaces
