HP ENVY Desktop - TE01-1177c
Microsoft Windows 11

Ran UEFI fast check and received a 'Memory Fast Check Failed' message, Failure ID: 9C576J-A7QBKK-QF8U3F-40DM03, Product ID 9ED93AA, Memory Module 1 DIMM2

What does this mean? I ran this test because I got a blue screen and needed to restart several times

Hi:

You will need to replace that memory chip with a new one.

The specs for your PC indicate that it came with 2 x 16 GB memory chips.

You can run it off the good one until you can replace the defective one.

The replacement memory chip part number can be found at the link below.

Below is a service video for how to remove and replace the memory.

Thank you for the quick reply. You confirmed my suspicion about needing replacement. Did not know about being able to run with just one. Would you suggest replacing both at the same time or just replacing one ok? sometimes when one matched component fails, the other isn't far behind...at least with some devices.

You're very welcome.

You can just replace the bad one, but I recommend you find a memory chip with that part number because usually if you buy an aftermarket memory chip such as a Crucial one they don't run at the right speed and there is no way to adjust for that.

As a result, you have to pay a ridiculous price for the one used by HP.

You can do this two ways...search by the manufacturer's part number on the memory chip, which may provide you with more options, or search by the HP part number.

The memory chip is not orderable from HP.

This site has one for $77.00.  I could not find any on eBay.

However, I did find this related discussion which is promising...if this is the same part number as yours, it would be half the price.  It is in used condition though.

I found a specification sheet for my specific computer and it lists 16GB SK Hynix 3200 MHz as the ram for each slot. It appears that general product spec shows  DDR4-2933 SDRAM. Is it safe to substitute the 3200 for the 2933? Note that a new motherboard (by HP) was put in after a power surge / lightning issue in 2021

Usually DDR4-3200 memory is used in PC's that run the memory at 2933 MHz.
