Microsoft's Windows licensing scheme advanced a few years ago.
Your Windows license activation key is tied to the MAC address of your PC's motherboard on Microsoft's licensing servers.
That means that even if you forget the 25 character operating system activation key it is a non issue.
If you remove the current SSD or HDD that your Windows installation is on and replace it with a higher capacity one, you can install your operating system to the new storage device.
After the install is complete, go online and the OS will be automatically activated by the Microsoft licensing servers
