I have installed a larger SSD drive in my HP PC and reinstalled Windows 10 via Microsoft's homepage. I now see the following missing drivers in the device manager:
PCI communication controller (simple)
PCI memory controller
SM bus controller
I cannot find any drivers in Win 10 Update. I can't find the drivers in HP Support Assistant either. However, I have a set of recovery CD from HP.
Who can help me?
With kind regards
Hans

Hi, Hans:
For all but the first device, install this driver and restart the PC.
This package provides the Intel Chipset Support for Skylake in supported models running a supported operating system.

For the PCI communication controller (simple), you need this driver...
This package provides the Intel Management Engine Components Driver for supported desktop models that are running a supported operating system.

Hallo Paul,
after installing the two packages, everything seemed fine. There were no errors in the device manager.
But the next day or the day after, Windows 10 would not start and the error message appeared:
Page Fault in NONPAGED AREA - Error Cause: Wdf01000.sys.
After some difficulties I was able to restore Windows and some programs with Acronis backup.
Some erroneous displays in the device manager could be cleaned up with the help of HP Support Assistant.
Unfortunately there are still 2 erroneous items now:
PCI memory controller
SM-Bus controller
Which package should I import now. I'm just worried that the PC won't boot again the next day.
The PC was bought by me 4 years ago and the memory was upgraded from 8GB to 16 GB and now equipped with a larger SSD (500 GB) and reinstalled Windows. In addition, due to the need for more USB ports, I have installed a Fresco Locgic USB 3.0 host controller in the free PCI-E 1x. A DriverGenius USB to RS232 adapter is in operation via USB port.
With kind regards
Hans

Hi, Hans:
I'm surprised, and sorry that happened to you.
You need to install the Intel chipset driver from your PC's support page, which should install both of those devices.

Hallo,
thank you.
My device manager is now in order.
I hope that my PC will not have startup problems in the next few days.
But another problem appears: my external new hard drive "My Book from WD" for data backup with Acronis True Image always loses the drive letter "Z" assigned by me.
On the first partition of the USB disk Acronis created a 2 GB EFI system partition and behind it is the backup partition in NTFS.
I had also experienced this with my smaller backup disk.
Is there a solution to this?
With kind regards
Hans

Hello Paul,
the problems do not stop.
In the last few days, in the morning the computer did not start correctly with blue screen.
After un finally long time the system repaired itself though again.
Yesterday in the afternoon went in the system no more and the computer had to be terminated rudely.
Can the problems be related to a PCI-E 1x USB card with 5 x USB 3 and 2 x USB C from Fresco Logic USB 3.0 host controller that I installed? There are small error messages in the device manager. Due to the unreliability of the computer I am toying with the idea of buying a new computer.
Best Regards
Hans
