I'm unable to remove the back panel of HP Compaq Elite 8311 Ai1. never seen a screw like this.  what tool could remove this?

Hi:

 

You need a Security Torx Shank Screwdriver Bit to loosen that screw.

 

I don't know what size, but the service manual should indicate that, and you can pick up a set of assorted sizes pretty cheaply, I would imagine.

They now have all kinds of crazy shaped security screws, for which you need the special drivers to remove and reinstall them.

 

The one on your PC is the most common one.
