Microsoft Windows 11

Hey i want to ask for a help with my Windows 11 Vivtus by hp 15.6 inch gaming laptop 15-fa0000. So recently, i've found or heard something strange coming out of my laptop, it's very absurdly loud i think it's from one of the internal fan. After i heard that absurdly loud fan, i clogged the dust and applied a new thermal paste to my laptop, but it's not really helping, as the sound of that loud internal fan still coming out of it. Is there any solution to this problem? for more information, i've own this laptop for about a year and 4 months

Hi @Ginzan,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the loud noise from your fan is persistent, even after cleaning and reapplying thermal paste. Here are a few things you can try to resolve the issue.

Check for Overheating:

  • Monitor temperatures: Use a tool like HWMonitor or Core Temp to check your CPU and GPU temperatures. If they are too high (over 85-90°C), this could cause the fans to spin louder to cool the components.
  • Ensure good ventilation: Make sure that the laptop's cooling vents are unobstructed and that the room temperature isn't too high, as poor airflow can exacerbate the noise.

Fan Control Software:

  • Adjust fan speed: You can use software like SpeedFan or HP's OMEN Command Center (if installed) to control fan speeds. Sometimes, manually adjusting the fan curve can help reduce unnecessary noise.

Physical Issues with the Fan:

  • Inspect the fan blades: Sometimes, dust or debris can get stuck in the fan blades even after a cleaning, or the fan blades themselves could be slightly damaged or misaligned. It might be worth opening the laptop again to visually inspect the fan.
  • Lubricate the fan: If you’re comfortable opening the laptop, you can try lubricating the fan bearings with a small amount of oil to reduce friction, which might help reduce noise.

Check for Software Issues:

  • Background processes: High CPU or GPU usage caused by certain applications running in the background can cause the fans to work harder. Check the Task Manager to identify any processes that are consuming excessive resources and terminate them if necessary.
  • BIOS Update: Sometimes a BIOS update can address thermal management issues. You might want to check the HP support website for any recent BIOS updates for your model.

Fan Replacement:

  • If none of the above solutions work, it's possible that the fan itself is wearing out or has a mechanical issue that cleaning and lubrication can't fix. In this case, replacing the fan could resolve the noise issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for the answers, but i'd confidently say that i've found the main problem. So, i've used my laptop under a cold temperature room with Air Conditioner on it, and also used it outside the room with normal temperature. And it happens that the grinding fan noise will occur if i use my laptop under a cold temperature room.

So, i think it's not about overheating or something else but... overcolding? I don't know if it make sense but i'll just put this for your information, anyway hope this information helps!
