NVIDIA Quadro K5000 in HP z620

HP Z620 Workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,  I've been trying to install an NVIDIA Quadro K5000 graphics card in my HP Z620 Workstation and whenever it boots I get an error message saying to "Power Down and Connect PCIE Power Connector,"  It is connected though and does not seem to be recognized.  I've tried both G1 and G2 of the included connectors as well as a Molex to 6 Pin adapter and nothing seems to work.  I've also tried both PCIE 16 slots.  My other cards work fine when installed.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hi Steveang620.

What version is you motherboard BIOS? I'm unsure if the BIOS version would have any bearing on your GPU problem  but if your current BIOS is quite old it certainly wouldn't do any harm to upgrade the BIOS.

It does appear that the K5000 GPU you have may be suspect? Do you have any means of testing the card in another computer?

Thank you for reaching out.  I have recently updated to the latest bios available.  I'm wondering if it is the pcie power.  I've tried G1 and G2 but neither work.  They both are only connected with 5 wires with a top middle pin empty which it seems the card may be looking for.  I tried using a molex to 6pin adapter and that did not work either.  Also tried a splitter which did not work.  The seller says the card was working in another computer so I'm not sure what it could be.

I would recommend you have a read of this post regarding the PCI auxilliary power cables;

It could be that your GPU is looking for a signal on the missing auxilliary power connector pin?
