just need the name of this little thing right here , it locks the video in cable in place while it’s plugged into the board. Really minor but a major inconvenience.

@IDKAM,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

The 30-pin video ribbon cable shown in your picture is likely the HP LCD Display Cable 24-F0014 with p/n: L15721-001.

The missing part you are looking for is this ribbon cable's securing clamp, but I couldn't find a part number for it.  Among other searches, I did a comprehensive internet picture search, but no luck.

Therefore, we need to find or create a functional alternative/substitute.  And here you go, a workaround is shown in this YouTube video clip: (1883) Simple Hack To Clamp Down A Ribbon Cable Connector With a Missing Clamp When Repairing a Lapt..., and one of the more helpful comments posted was this one, quote:

"If you can, use a piece of a debit card (old gift cards work perfectly). Just sand down one side so it's like a wedge, then put the flat side downwards. The metal bits which are above the actual cable will dig into the wedge and it'll be a pretty good fit. Then some tape or glue."

Hope you find this useful.

Kind Regards,
