Seems I need to replace the video card for my well-maintained CQ5210F (darn right it still works!), because no matter which current (Linux) OS I install, the system often freezes, when starting random applications, and the monitor (any monitor) reverts to a diagonal line pattern. Requires a hard PC shutdown. I do stream video, but I do not game, ever. Any suggestions for a current, compatible card? Thanks.

@DieterAsher , welcome to the forum.
It will be difficult to find a video card that will work with your computer. The newer cards require UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard/Legacy BIOS. The last cards not to require UEFI were the GTX 1060/1070 series. Any of these cards will require a power supply unit (PSU) upgrade, also. They require at least 400W to operate properly.
