I have up graded my home network to 500 gb; however I am only getting 90-95 gb when I do a speed test. I am hardwired (not wifi). The PC has a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller...from my research I believe this 1000 gb card...please confirm. If so why is it only functioning at the 100 gb level? If not can I upgrade by adding a PCI-E Gigabit Network adapter?

@JamesIvey , welcome to the forum.
Actually, the card is a maximum of 1000 Mb/s (Gigabit). There are a lot of things that go into how fast your Internet connection will be; the type of connection is only one of them. My Internet provider uses Fiber-optics (Gigabit 1000 Mb/s). I live in a retirement community where the Fiber-optics connects to the original copper wire. I am hardwired, but even with no restrictions on speed from my provider, I can only get 80 to 90 Mb/s down and 30 Mb/s up. This is fine with me because I am only paying for 50 Mb/s down and 20 Mb/s up. I am getting a good deal.
I suggest that you contact your Internet provider to see if they can give you a good reason for the difference in speed. They are the experts on their product.

My speed at my router is 490 Mb/s (paying for 500 Mb/s). So service provider is not the issue. Speed at Desktop is 90-95 Mb/s...this feels like the network card is only a 10/100....however everything I read says it is a 10/100/1000? Not sure what to trouble shoot next.

@JamesIvey, the only other suggestion that have is, check to assure that the cable you are using is the one for the best speed; Cat 5 or Cat 6. This is where your provider can help.
