I installed a new hard drive and it passed all the tests including the smart test. When I turn the computer on, the boot disk is not detected. I press esc to access the startup menu and access the boot menu and it asks for my setup password, which I do not have.  Is there a way to bypass the setup password? Am I on the right track? Do you have any other suggestions?

Did you REPLACE or ADD ? If added, please remove the old HDD and run on new HDD OR swap old and new

I replaced the hard drive with an identical WD15EARS 1.5TB . There is only one hard drive in the desktop. The message is: no boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed. However, it passed all of the diagnostic tests.

I replaced the hard drive on my HP Pavilion desktop. There is only one hard drive on the desktop. The new hard drive PASSED all the diagnostic tests. However, when I try to boot it up, I get an error message that the boot disk has not been detected or the disk has failed. When I esc to the startup menu, I am being asked to enter the setup password. Is there a way to bypass the setup password, so I can access the boot menu or system recovery?
