Product: Z420 Workstation
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi All,

I have a request if anybody has an idea. I will buy a Samsung 970 Pro NVMe 512GB M.2 SSD but I am not sure whether it will work on Z420 workstation. There is no M.2 slot but it has a pci express slot. Can I run this SSD disk on HP Z420?

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

 

You might get a better response in the HP Business PC, Workstation Board.

 

The 970 may work using an adapter but may not be bootable. Pretty sure you need a UEFI BIOS and NVME PCIe support baked into the system board for booting to this device.

 

I saw a workaround in the HP Workstation Board many months ago. Sorry, don't have a link to this. And don't remember the specific HP Workstation referenced in the thread.
