HP OMEN 25L GT12-1520ND
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am planning on upgrading my RAM from 16G  to 32GB, currently running 2 8GB sticks from Hyper X Fury 3200Mhz. I have seen and read some articles that said when you don't buy these parts directly from HP it automatically downgrades the clockspeed.

So I am wondering if this also counts for the RGB function. If I do not buy the RAM from HP, but they are the same model, does this mean the RBG Function in OCC is also not available/compatible/working?

And if someone has a link to the HP Provided RAM Upgrades, please share as I would appreciate that alot!

See photo below for my RAM slots.

@DylanK -- you need to order directly from HP

To repeat, the hyperlink:  http://partsurfer.hp.com

is how to find the HP part-number, and, if possible, to order genuine HP RAM from the HP warehouse.

@DylanK -- a link to the HP Provided RAM Upgrades ?

Start at http://PartSurfer.HP.com and search for your model-number, to see the components that are factory-installed in your computer.

Maybe not exactly "a link to the HP Provided RAM Upgrades", but some said in order to make the RGB lightning and clockspeed of 3200Mhz work you need to order "directly from HP".

I have done some digging but couldn't find a definitive answer.

I did find this on my RAM Stick: "HP37D4U1S8ME-8XR" followed by "S2116Z2NB".

I'm sorry if I was a little unclear at first, but from what I understood is that if you buy 2x8 sticks from somewhere else you either have to deal with the downgrade in clockspeed, maybe system instability and non functional RGB Lightning or buy them 'directly from HP' in order to avoid those possible problems.

Hi.

Ive a similar issue with an OMEN 25L with 8GB of ram in a single stick. ...wanting to increase this to 16gb with buying an extra 8gb.

Did you find a fix in the end?

thanks, Paul

@PaulTM1 -- the "fix" is to buy the extra stick of RAM from HP.

incase anyone is having the same problem....

In touch with HP Tech.... They confirmed they do not sell upgradeable RAM for these Omen models.

I did find these 2 videos that detail ways around...

Hey guys I wanted to do this video first and let everyone know about the memory situation with the HP Omen 30L - Intel Z490 base configuration. Below are the instructions to use XMP profiles on the 30L, also a link to HP Community forums with a lot of the discussions on the subject: HP Community -
