Omen 880-050 kProcessor Upgrade

HP Recommended
Omen 880-050
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey, everyone!

I just purchased an Omen 880-050 and am loving it. My only concern is that newer processors are already available. While I don't have any performance concerns at the moment, I don't buy new PCs often (I'm upgrading from a first gen i7), so I'd like to be as future-proof as possible. Will this motherboard support an 8700k processor if I were to choose to upgrade down the line?

Thanks!

JB

@McCrackey, welcome back to the forum.

Intel says that the i7-8700K will not work with a Z270 chipset.  It takes the Z370 (300 series).  The i7-8700K is a 6-core processor and requires more power.

I wish I had better news for you.  I, too, like to future proof my computers as much as possible.  Good ole technology is simply moving along too fast for us!
