HP 180w gold+ psu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all, could use some advice on this.

I'm trying to install a GPU (GTX 1650) as the integrated graphics doesn't really cut it. I have bought a BeQuiet 300w tfx 2 to replace he standard HP PSU installed, however there is a cable marked PWRCMD that doesn't match any attached to the new unit. Is this cable necessary for operation and can I find an adaptor?

Assume that I'm not particularly clued in on hardware, I spent a few hours researching GPUs and power requirements but I can't seem to find any questions about the PWRCMD plug through Google that had a response.

Thanks

@PenguinPC

Hope you can get your money back on that PSU, as it is the wrong product.  It would have been easier to ask before you leaped.  What you did not state was the exact model number of the computer. But based on the detailed photos I am able to determine the original PSU is an HP proprietary designed 180W. I was not able to clearly see the PSU model number.

That design has two 2x2 leads and an inline 7 pin plug.

The GTX 1650 is a 75W card, but some manufacturers created cards requiring a 6 pin PCIe power plug. From your vague description (no manufacturer mentioned) you steeped into it, rather badly, and now need a 310W PSU that has the PCIe plug. Any 75W GTX 1650 without that PCIe power need would work on the basic 180W PSU.
