Pavilion 580-131
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I took out my RAM and, upon reseating it, got 3 long beeps and 2 short beeps (indicating memory failure). Now I'm trying to reset the CMOS but can't seem to figure out how. I know there's a Clr_CMOS button with 8 pins but I have no idea how to reset it. Also, anyone have a diagram of the motherboard on this model? I can't find it or even a name for the motherboard anywhere. Would appreciate any info or help!

Greetings,

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

Why did you have to reseat the memory? Do this again. The memory may not be seated correctly or you have a different problem.

Just pull the motherboard CR2032 battery located near the SATA ports.

Let the PC sit for about 15 minutes to 20 minutes.

Reinstall the battery.

This will reset CMOS.

I forgot to mention, there seems to be a plastic cover on the battery that I can't remove. It only covers about 1/3 of the battery but I can't seem to remove the battery with it there.

Hi,

The plastic cover was installed at the factory.

It must be removable.

Hi,

You can find clearing CMOS instructions  at this (Link).

Look in "Clearing the BIOS settings". Clearing CMOS.

Hi,

Possible problems could also be you damaged one or both of the RAM modules when removing and reseating the modules.

Or you damaged the memory sockets on the motherboard.

Try one memory module in each memory slot. Rinse and repeat.
