Pc crashes when adding second monitor

I have a brand new HP PC. I want to connect two monitors so that I can extend my display. I have an adapter which converts a USB port to a Vga monitor port and which worked perfectly fine on my old PC. On the new device the PC crashes when the adapter is plugged in, and I have to do a full system reset. Both old and new pcs ran on Windows 10, so that's not the issue.

Pc crashes when adding second monitor

@Richard299
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824 (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
  • Have you updated the system software?

Note: You have to connect both monitors with the same adapter the laptop changes the display to VGA,

Keep me posted for further assistance.
