HP Pavilion 590-P0033W
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am looking to get a power supply that is rated for more than 180 Watts for my son's 590-P0033W. The power supply that came with the computer is an HP Part # L08261-001 Model # PA-1181-6HY. I can find these power supplies on ebay, but nothing greater than 180 Watts. Is there a power supply greater than 180 watts that will fit into the paviliion case? What type of power supply is this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,  Joe M

Greetings,

Welcome to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

The 590 series HP PCs use proprietary: PSUs and motherboard connections.

The PSU is also a small form factor PSU.

There is one 400 watt SFF HP PSU that should fit in your PC, part number L04618-800.

You can buy this part at HP Part Surfer (Link).

The Power Supply That came with the computer has two 4 pin connectors, and one 7 pin connector (Labeled P2 pictured below). Does anybody know what type of connector this is? Is there an adapter for it, so that I can use a normal Power Supply? Is there a way to adapt a 24 pin to this connector if I cut it off the Power Supply that came with the computer? (I am not going to do this, but I am curious). Why would HP use this connector if it can't use a standard power supply. Besides the obvious answer of money, and they onoly want you to use a proprietary power supply.  Thanks for any information you can supply.20190127_134105.jpg20190127_134117.jpg

Hi Joe,

HP uses a proprietary MB and a proprietary PSU in your PC.

I have not seen any adapters that would allow using a retail PSU.

L04618-800 it's 65 bucks I bought it and it works great!  I have a Radeon Rx 580 8gb but it's a oem so it only takes 110w

What kind (6 pin, 6+2 pin, 8 pin) and how many PCI Express Auxiliary Power connectors does the 400 W power supply have?
