Envy 750-170SE

Even when cleaned, my power supply's fan has always been running constantly since new out of the box, and produces an annoying noise from the fan.

I've checked the other fans from the case and the graphics card, but the power supply seems to be the source of the noise pollution.

Is there a way to troubleshoot why the fan is always running?

Or can I upgrade the power supply to something with a more silent fan?

Thank you!

@plagueu,

Old style power supplies have a constant spin fan.

This Corsair CX550 PSU meets your inquiry. Super Quiet.  Exact fit, and 5 year warranty.

Thanks for the info @Wb2001 . Almost purchased, but remembered to check the connectors first, since the suggested psu is not modular.

The suggested psu does not appear to have the needed connectors, but I am not certain as different terms are used.

For example, my gpu uses a 6pin connector and the Bluray drive uses the mini SATA.

Any suggestions?

 OEM psu:

Connectors

(1) 24-Pin ATX

(2) 4-Pin 12V Connector

(1) 6-Pin PCI-E

(1) Mini SATA

(4) SATA

(1) 6+2 Pin PCI-E Connector

Cx550:

1 x power 24 pin ATX with detachable 4 pin section
1 x power 8 pin EPS12V with detachable 4 pin ATX12V section
2 x 8 pin PCI Express power with detachable 2 pin section
4 x 4 pin internal power
5 x 15 pin Serial ATA power

@plagueu,

The mini sata to sata adapter.  If you want semi-modular, there is a link on that page.

Nice, thanks. And is there a converter the 6 pin gpu?
