HP pavilion 595 p0074
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP 595 p0074 and I am looking to upgrade the power supply. This is my first DIY computer project and was hoping someone can tell me what some good options are. The HP replacement 400w upgrade is like 90 bucks and I was trying to spend a bit less. ( if possible)

@JD474 , welcome to the forum.

Good for you!  I have to warn you, however.  Once you do a DIY computer project you will be hooked. 😉  There is no going back!!  I will give you a bit of advice to follow when upgrading the power supply unit (PSU).  Take a close-up picture of the motherboard with all of the connectors in place before removing them.  It is very easy to forget where they connect later.  This is experience speaking.

The motherboard in your computer is HP proprietary.  It has a 4-pin power connector instead of the standard 24-pin ATX power connector.  This means that you will have to buy the upgrade from HP.  Here it is in HP PartSurfer: https://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?searchText=L04618-800

You can select the "Add to Cart" box to order it.  Here is a Power Supply Cross-Reference Chart to show you which power supplies are compatible with the different models: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Knowledge-Base/Power-Supply-Cross-Reference-for-specific-model...

I believe there is a 500W PSU that is compatible with your motherboard: L05757-800

The author of the chart told me that all of the PSU's are compatible over all of the models with the same motherboard (Lincs).
