My motherboard (Shave-hsw) says it has tdp up to 54 watt and possess a i3 4170 of 54 watt. It has i5 4600T of 35 watt as listed supported upgrade. So, can I put a i5 with tdp of 45 or 54 watt and not fry my board?(As it supports tdp upto 54 watt)

@srichit , welcome to the forum.

HP has their motherboards made to their specifications.  Therefore, they are not necessarily the same as a retail board.  Each motherboard is used in many different models with many different specifications.  The motherboards are made to work within that model and configuration.  Therefore, the only processors that have been fully tested to be compatible with your motherboard are the ones in the section titled "Processor upgrade information".  Any other processor will most likely not work.
