Pavilion 500-132a
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently acquired a used Pavilion 500-132a from a friend (for another friend). Before passing the PC on, I attempted to move the components into a larger ATX mid-tower case. After assembling the components and turning on the PC, there was no video output and the CPU fan would stop after a few seconds. I checked to ensure that all of the components were seated correctly and made multiple attempts to power on the PC with no success. I assembled the components back into the original case... and voila! It boots perfectly first time.

I suspect that there may be some kind of security feature. I notice that the front panel header array on the Memphis S motherboard has 9 pins, with pin 9 labelled as "Reserved" on the pinout diagrams I was able to locate. Could this 9th pin be some form of case detection? Is it simply a wire grounded to the case or power supply?

Has anyone else run into this problem trying to re-case this series/model?
