HP Recommended
Pavilion 500-224EG
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had to replace my SSD because it had failed.

I started a thread but someone closed it,  the last guy recommended

to  "that requires special formatting that is done at the factory and not, as far as I know, something you can do.

If you can do a factory reset using the HP Cloud Recovery option, that will reformat ALL the drives and should get this working again."  but factory reset did not fix the new drive to be specially formatted.

So I left it, but sometimes my programs crash and now I do not want to have to reinstall all my software again, there must be a way to format it or configure the OS to use it  , I see it as Disk2  Unallocated

Someone must have a solution, thanks.

Ok I am getting there,  I have found out how to configure the replaced ssd cache drive by this thread

http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/howto-configure-a-large-32gb-ssd-to-work-with-expresscache.7...

but before installing that version of the expresscache program, head over to this thread

Which links a post with everything you need and follow the readme there to download the files you need

https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=4F7BE65BF6B6294F!86044&authkey=!ABIp1AMsK6jibCA&ithint=folder%...

//Fix ExpressCache Folder is empty after upgrade to win10
1. Run ECWin10Cleanup.exe via administrative command prompt (step1.jpg)
2. Run ExpressCacheSetup.exe

3. make sure to use the HP_EC.LMF file and  rename to EC.LMF  copy that to

C:\ Program Files\Condusiv Technologies\ExpressCache

4. Reboot your system.
!! DO NOT reboot between step 1 and step2.

You can now use the above supplied Lenovo installer, to install the ExpressCache (v1.3.118) software,  make sure to overwrite the existing 'EC.LMF' after installation with the one downloaded and renamed above otherwise you will get a 'product is not licensed to run on this system' error

then go back to the first post

Open an administrator cmd prompt , type 'eccmd -info'. You should see your new cache partition listed!

now it recommends this

In addition, if you want to preload a folder (e.g. C:\Windows) it's a bit tricky. The only preload command I found that works is one of the following format:

eccmd -preload .
which preloads the recursive contents of the entire folder. So you might want to cd into c:\windows and run preload there to force the cache partition to always contain your windows directory. Give it some time to process.

But I did not get that to work, but I see a huge performance improvement.
