Replacement power supply unit Pavillion 500 - is it the right part?
11-14-2019 09:59 AM - edited 11-14-2019 10:00 AM

Our power supply needs to be replaced due to a noisy fan. I have been given part number 667892-003, but all the photos I've seen of refurbished PSUs don't have the on/off switch on top of the power socket like ours does and they have a green light which ours doesn't. Is this the right part number and will the PSUs without an on/off switch be appropriate?

The typical ATX 24 pin main and 4 pin AUX plug would be the norm for that circa 2013-2014 unit. Little can be found on units that old within the 500 series. Most shipped with a 300W PSU. IMHO, a replacement should have the on/off rocker switch. The green LED is a plus, but not a deal breaker.
What is the rating on the current PSU, and what are your intentions? The Corsair 450W has a 5 yr warranty.

Apologies Wb2001 - it's a Pavillion 500 -119ea. Do you suppose it has been fitted with a replacement PSU in the past and should have been fitted with a PSU with no on/off switch and a green light?
We appreciate your support on this.
