Replacing PSU in M01-F0134

Hello all!

I was hoping to upgrade the graphics card, and realized today I only have a 180w PSU. I read on the Best Buy questions (where I bought it) that the chassis will only fit a 310w because of HP proprietary parts. 

Would replacing the case solve this issue, allowing me to put in other PSUs as space allowed? Or did HP make it to where motherboard connections are proprietary as well? Further question, if that's the case, can I just replace the motherboard?

The chasis/case is not the problem.  Your motherboard is HP proprietary as you suggested.  It has a 4-pin power connector instead of a standard 24-pin ATX power connector.  The 310W PSU is the only upgrade that HP has available at this time.  Here is a Power Supply Cross-Reference Chart to show you where I got this information: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Knowledge-Base/Power-Supply-Cross-Reference-for-specific-model...

Any of the PSU's listed for the M01 series will work with your motherboard.

Changing the motherboard is not always a sure thing, either.  There are two major concerns: 1) the holes in the motherboard matching the stand-offs in the case and two the front connectors in the case being compatible.  Since HP's motherboards are made to their specifications they are not always the same as retail versions.
