Hello,

I need to replace my power supply and would like to do it myself. My current PSU is HP Part # 746177-002, Model # PS-8501-2.

My understanding is any power supply will not necessarily fit, but I am having a hard time finding the right part. Also, unfortunately this PSU was replaced less than 3 months ago and is already dead. I think the issue is electric voltage in my home, which I am getting addressed this week. However, I am not sure if I should consider any sort of quality upgrade since I am going to be replacing the unit. Do I need to use the same HP part?

Thank you!

@teeah,

You can use any ATX PSU that meets or exceeds the wattage and necessary cabled plugs.
