Replacing/Upgrading Power Suppply

HP Recommended
Pavilion 570-p020
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I was hoping to get a new power supply for my desktop, but I am without any clue of what to get for it. I see on the specs for it online has "300 W uATX regular internal power supply" listed. I was also hoping to get a power supply that also had a power rocker switch (photo included for reference below).

I am assuming the 300 W is the ceiling for the unit, so does it mean that I can potentially use a power supply with a higher threshold?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, also a side question.. What is this thing and what does it do?IMG_20210224_172909.png

@Sissyphus , welcome to the Community.

You can use a standard ATX power supply unit (PSU) in the computer.  I would normally recommend a PSU with at least 500W if you are a gamer.  You can measure the space where it is installed to assure that the one you choose will fit.  I like Corsair products.  A full modular PSU is best for smaller cases.  They allow you to use only the cables that are absolutely necessary to run the computer.  Here is an example: https://www.newegg.com/corsair-rmx-series-rm550x-cp-9020177-na-550w/p/N82E16817139231?&quicklink=tru...

It measures 3.39" x 5.91" x 6.30".  You can compare it to the current PSU.

The red item in your picture is a Voltage switch.  It can be used in other countries.
