@mshellenberger1 -- is this your computer: HP Pavilion p7-1270t Product Specifications and Configurable Options | HP® Customer Support
On that page, I see several HDD and SSDs that are compatible:
- 500 GB, 5400 rpm, SATA
- 500 GB, 7200 rpm, SATA
- 750 GB, 7200 rpm, SATA
- 1 TB, 7200 rpm, SATA
- 1.5 TB, 5400 rpm, SATA
- 1.5 TB, 7200 rpm, SATA
- 1.5 TB (1 TB + 500 GB), 7200 rpm, SATA
- 2 TB, 5400 rpm, SATA
- 2 TB, 7200 rpm, SATA
- 2 TB (1 TB + 1 TB), 7200 rpm, SATA
- 128 GB Solid State Drive
- 160 GB Solid State Drive
I definitely would avoid any 5400 RPM disk-drive.
How much disk-space do you expect to need?
In the last year, the price of a 500 GB SSD (5 times faster than a HDD) has significantly decreased, to be about the same as a 1TB HDD.
So, even though a 500 GB SSD is not listed, it definitely will be compatible, and it may meet your requirements.
