Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I have a 1TB HDD in this model 23-k300xt all-in-one touch screen all-in-one PC. I would like to replace the HDD with a 500GB SSD.  What type of adapter will be required to accomplish this?

Greetings,

Welcome back to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

You need an external SATA SSD to USB adapter to copy/clone the operating system image to the new SSD.

You can clone the existing operating system from the factory HDD to the new SSD using Macrium Reflect free (Link). Saves time and is generally painless.

Samsung provides a free download for Data Migration software to clone the operating system if you buy a Samsung SSD.

You may also need a 3.5 inch to 2.5 inch adapter to install the SSD in your PC.

The above adapters can be purchased at Newegg or Amazon.
