Envy 24-n014
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Need some HELP.

This Slow All-in-One 24-n014 with a Core i5-6400T runs slower than my traditional desktop PC (non-HP) with a Core i3-4150 CPU.  Any ideas?

I thought maybe HP's diagnostics might help point out problems.  I downloaded the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI but when I open it (Restart, F2 for Diagnostics) and choose the language (English) the Envy All-in-one is then Frozen.  No keyboard press works (including NumLock, CapsLock, Ctrl-Alt-Del, etc), as well the mouse pointer is frozen.

Is there another way I can diagnose the hardware or test the hardware and software?

Robert

Thanks for your reply.

I decided to upgrade the storage from the 5,400 RPM 1TB HDD to a 500GB SSD and it runs as I'd expect, quite snappy.

Hi @Bardiferous

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the performance issue.

Try these steps -

1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
3. On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
4. Click Extensive Test.

If the issue still persists, try running the diagnostics from Windows. Refer to "Installing HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows" from this document

Also, try these steps mentioned in the guided troubleshooter - HP PCs - Computer is Slow Guided Troubleshooter

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
