Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, newbie here, my desktop is 4 years old and I have just started to really use it since my Imac called it quits.

My HP is running rather slowly and I am trying to speed up this lovely computer.

Living in Hobart Tasmania, wondering if it is worth my while to take it somewhere to increase the speed or spend $$ buying a new one. Then of course the question is which one?

I am not a computer guru but haven't got time in the inclination waiting for 5 minutes to see a change of screen 🙂

Internet speed here is very good, so that is not an issue.

Looking forward to some ideas from the HP community

Cheers

Peter

G'day

One of these?

The 2 obvious things are more memory (RAM) and an SSD drive rather than the Mechanical one.

Supports up to 16 GB (unbuffered) on 64-bit systems (RAM).

CPU upgrade is probably too pricey.

SSD?  https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/internal-ssd/data-storage/solid-state-drives/355_4681_32418_xx_ba00013...

From 20 Quid to a Grand, that's a lot of Oz dollars.

Many thanks indeed, living in Hobart/Tasmania. Which SSD drive would you recommend to really get this machine humming?

Hi

I don't tell people where and how to spend their money, but I can only give my usual advice...

Don't take advice from a stranger over the internet, and I don't come any stranger.

If it goes wrong can you take it back, so buy locally if possible, or from a company with a decent returns policy.

Sorry but the choice and risk is yours.
