@Prakhar21

There are few different sizes of Hp elitedesk 800 g1. for example

             https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c03808397

which only has

  • (2) PCI Express x1 (v2.0)
  • (1) PCI Express x 16 (v2.0 - wired as x4)
  • (1) PCI Express x16 (v3.0)
  • (1) Optional PCI (v2.3)

Adding M.2 NVMe SSD to your machine is doable but you need to use PCI Express x16 (v3.0) slot with following adapter as an example

             https://www.amazon.com.au/Adapter-Interface-Suppor-Express-2230-2280/dp/B07FFS22DV

Hope this helps.

Regards.

is this the full sized model. 800G1?  the big MT case or tiny SFF case.:?   7 years old. 2013

open it first and look inside, works. on all PCs.

see what do you have there, PCs gain parts, upgrades and things get in the way or things missing like cables.

only looking first works on any machine by man..

I guess you meant to say  upgrade the BOOT HDD SATA drive to SSD SATA? that it? or add a 2nd drive.

are you replacing the boot drive.  sorry that I only have questions,  after all I can not see the PC nor look inside.

the MT has 4 SATA ports and zero m.2, ,zero Msata.

other say there is M.2 hiding under the fan. but is talking about only the mini 800 G1 pro mini. only

I have the MT mobo here and there is no such thing, m.2.

so what PC do you have. even photos work or post  service tag , model # real like this,  nnnnnnnABA# see that?

as you can see this is not ONE PC but 2 or 3 or more.. mini, sff, mt and more maybe.

read here , I say get SSD SATA and avoid m.2, but im tying now on w10, m.2 (DIY PC total)

good luck on your upgrade, !!!!
