HP ENVY Desktop - TE01-1177c
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

i purchased an ENVY desktop advertised as VR ready. Belatedly, I learned the installed NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super only supports 50% resolution for the new HP Reverb G2.

Most potential GPU upgrades recommend a higher system power supply than the installed 400W PSU.  HP's 500W PSU is also insufficient for most new GPUs, which recommend system PSUs from 550W to 750W. From reading other posts, I understand the HP PSU and CPU have proprietary connectors, ruling out an upgrade with an off the shelf PSU.

Several articles/posts suggest adding a supplemental PSU dedicated to powering an upgraded GPU. Amazon offers the following product for the purpose of "daisy chaining" PSUs - Amazon.com: Multiple Power Supply Adapter and Daisy Chain Connector, Add2PSU (Sata): Computers & Acc... Theoretically, a second HP 400W PSU could supply an upgraded GPU, which requires only 300W of power for itself.

Is this a potential solution to those who want to upgrade their GPUs but are prevented from doing so by HP's  PSU design?

In the alternative, is there any word on HP planning to design/build PSUs in the 700W to 800W range to support the new generation of GPUs?

Thanks Much!
