HP All-in-one 24-g
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Today I was adding a USB hub to a HP All-in-one 24-g when I accidentally used a 12v power supply by accident.  The hub was plugged in to a USB 3.0 connector

The PC shut down instantly and when restarted the and the USB 3.0 connectors no longer work.  The other two USB 2.0 connectors still work.

Is there hope of getting the USB 3.0 connectors to go again?  or will the whole board need replaced, or I just live with only two USB 2.0 connectors.

Thanks

Hello
you are already lucky, if I may say that the computer is still working
in my opinion you should open it up, and check if there is not a toasted element
condemn the usb 3.0 ports, disconnect if possible, and check the bios, if they are not deactivatable
do not make a mistake, if you disconnect everything, mouse and keyboard, may no longer be usable
and therefore use of the computer impossible

All in one, have little, or even at all, additional slots, in order to install a usb module
Therefore, probably impossible to replace it

Most likely you have ruined the internal USB 3.0 device.  The only hope is a USB 3.0 PCIx adapter.  If you supply the rest of the HP All-in-one 24-g  model number ( there are numbers after the "G") so I perhaps can look at the motherboard diagram to see if there is a PCIx slot.

Otherwise USB 2.0 is the only choice left.

The motherboard is the same type I mentioned

Motherboard Specifications, Hawaii-2G

24-g152a PC Product Specifications

So, no possibility of adding pci card, as I had mentioned
there are two usb 3.0 ports but directly on the motherboard, so not possible to disconnect them, if nothing else possible (lock in bios), try to camouflage them, so as not to use them by accident
Two usb ports, this may be too tight, so you will have to use the HUB, being careful
