Pavilion h8-1360t
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have two USB-3 Western Digital external hard drives and an Epson XP-7100 all-in-one connected via USB-2.

Under Devices and Printers, all three show up as "Unspecified Devices"

Also, in the "This PC" window, unused USB ports are showing up with a laptop icon labeled USB drive.

All the devices work fine and show up in Device Manager correctly. It's just annoying.

Running Windows 10 Pro on HP Pavilion h8-1360t desktop. This PC shipped with Windows 7 Pro. All upgrades (Windows 8, 8.1, and 10) have gone smoothly until now.

This all started after the first upgrade to Windows version 1909

@DAShafer

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  • Select Start, then type device manager in the Search box, and then select Device Manager.
  • Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Press and hold (or right-click) a device and select Uninstall. ...
  • Once complete, restart your computer. Your USB controllers will automatically install.

Note: disconnect all USB connected devices from the computer before uniting the steps.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
